What is Pineapple?

We were lucky enough to visit Pineapple Studios when we were in London last year and now there is a TV series all about Pineapple studios that will be showing here in OZ as of next month.

The show is filmed behind the scenes of the studios and portrays a day in the life of the dancers, Choreographers and creativity behind the amazing dance studio that has been running since 1979.

Don't miss the first episode Monday August 2 on Fox 8.

Broadway in the Lounge room

Putting on Talent shows in the lounge room for mum and dad wont be the same now, as the makers of the Wii game Just Dance they have come up with a new version for the whole family Dance on Broadway.

You sing and dance with your Wii remote and learn steps from some of the most famous Broadway choreography's. Dance on Broadway features 20 of the best Broadway and West End Musical songs from "All That Jazz", "Fame" and many more.

Summer Bay Steps Up

Aussie Starlet Sharni Vinson who is also known as Cassie Smith from Home and Away will be making her US movie debut next month in STEP UP 3D.

Vinson plays Natalie, a dancer who falls for Luke (Rick Malambri) the head of dance crew the House of Pirates. Vinson studied dance at Brent Street Studios before scoring her role on Channel Seven's Home and Away and then had Hollywood in her sights.

STEP UP 3D will open in Cinemas nationwide on August 5, but check out the trailer above for a sneak peek.

Justice Crew go back to school

The recent winners of 2010 Australia's Got Talent series Justice Crew will perform alongside a number of schools at a performance arts showcase called Talent Storm.
The crew that is made up nine self taught dancers with perform over two nights at the Acer Arena in Sydney and will host backstage dance workshops for the participating students.

We went West

Last weekend some of the Pointed Toes Team went and saw West Side Story at Sydney's Lyric Theatre.

We caught all the action and drama from the all Australian cast and danced in our third row seats to the famous songs "Maria" and "America" that were played by the amazing 18 piece orchestra.

We recommend if you get the chance to go and see this great production and you wont be disappointed.

Beyonce In London

We know that we have had a bit of a reoccurring theme and have posted a few blogs featuring Beyonce's "Single Ladies" song but we had to share this great video.

Over 100 Single ladies stopped traffic in the middle of London's Piccadilly Circus with a Flash Mob for Trident Gum. The girls all wore Beyonce's famous one shoulder black leotard and performed a 4 minute routine for onlookers.

Slip on your Dancing slippers

More than hundreds of people will take part in a world record attempt for the greatest amount of people dancing in their slippers in one place.

This event is part of Lifelines Stress Down day and you just have to turn up with a pair of slippers and be ready to Dance!

The details for the event are:

Date: Tuesday 6 July
Time: 7:45am-9:00am
Where: Stage 2, Martin Place, Sydney (between Pitt and Castlereagh street)

But don't worry if you can make the dance off you can still support this great cause by entering Lifelines "Slip on your dancing slippers" competition on Youtube.

It has been a year since the passing of music legend Michael Jackson and to pay tribute to the "King of Pop", Chris Brown performed a medley of some of MJ's famous hits.

Got to Dance is coming to Australia

The British sensation "Got to Dance" that has currently been screening here in Australia on Sunday nights may be hitting our shores with a locally-made Foxtel version.

The rumour on the street is that this new dance phenomenon may replace our current dance series "So you think you can dance".

The Australian production of "Got to dance" is due to start later this year and there are talks that Sydney born dancer and actor (famous for Bootmen and Tap dogs) Adam Garcia will continue his role as judge in the Australian series as well.

We are Home!!!

We are home from our amazing sourcing trip and looking forward to sharing it with you all, but please be patient as we need to unpack our bags and get back into the swing off things.
So, we will keep you posted and will be updating the blog soon.

The Pointed Toes team is going on a sourcing trip to find some exciting fabrics and fresh ideas for a special project that we are planning.

So, while we are away the Pointed Toes online shop will be closed from Monday 7 June - Monday 21 June, so any last minute orders have to be in by Thursday 3 June or you will not receive your order until we return.

The Pointed Toes team were given the heads up about a humorous competition that MTV is currently running.
MTV is giving people the opportunity to enter the competition called "Revolution of Innovation" where you have to tell them in 25 words or less why you need this amazing 90's inspired pack.
In the pack you get a Boom box, Brick phone and Dance pants.
If you check out the video above you will see the 100% polyester gold lame pants that are part of the pack in action.

These pants could really improve the look of some of those classic 90's dance moves like the Robot and Running man.

3D StreetDance Movie Trailer

Here is a look at the trailer of the 3D Dance movie "Street Dance" that is hitting cinemas this Thursday 27, 2010.

We are looking forward to seeing this 3D Dance flick with the mix of dance crews and Royal ballerinas.

Bring on the 3D glasses and choc tops.

So we went to see CATS

Here are some pics of our Cats visit.

The sets, costumes and choreography was amazing and the director and choreographer Jo-Anne Robinson's revamp of the 1981 show was very well done.

Cats has been seen by over 65 million worldwide since its premiere nearly 30 years ago and I'm sure that amount may even double over the next year with the show heading to tour Asia.

We must admit that the famous songs "Jellicle cats" and "Memories" will be stuck in our heads for the next week.

The show is still running in Sydney until the end of June, so don't miss out.

The youngest Single Ladies

There has been a bit of uproar the last few weeks about these 7 year old girls dance routine to Beyonce's "Single Ladies".
We must admit they are pretty talented young girls and are doing an amazing job.
