Untrained is choreographed by Lucy Guerin and consists of two professional dancers who perform a series of steps and beside them are two people with no dance experience what so ever and they attempt the same dance moves.
Untrained began as a one-week "experiment" in July 2007 but turned into a performance. After premiering at Dance Massive in Melbourne, Untrained is now coming to Sydney and as part of the Spring Dance festival that starts this Thursday 27th August at the Sydney Opera House.

Spring Dance is 4 weeks of Artistry, Athleticism and Grace from some of the most exciting and exceptional choreographers and performers from around the world.

The season features the finest in flamenco from Eva Yerbabuena , free films on the forecourt (including Fame and West Side Story), a global dance competition (MyMutation), free artist talks and a program of five cutting-edge contemporary performances (including Meryl Tankard and The Sydney Dance Company).

Dancing with Snow White

Adelaide Dance Company Leigh Warren and Dancers present a dance piece of seven people in love with the illusion of love.
Seven features amazing choreography that is inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

This is a one off performance and is only in Sydney for 2 days, so don't miss out.

Dance Flick is almost here!!

The creators of ‘Scary Movie’ and ‘White Chicks’ have released a hilarious new send up of a ballerina meets a street dancer mixed with a youth musical and takes a satirical jab at classic dance movies such as ‘Step Up’, ‘You Got Served, ’ and ‘Flashdance’.

Dance Flick is coming to Australia and will be showing at Cinemas from Thursday August 2oth.

Cheerleading State Championships

NSW Gymnastics presents the Cheerleading State Championships. Cheerleading is an exciting gym and dance sport for all ages that involves music, dance, cheers, tumbling and stunts. Cheerleading is a great way to learn Leadership, teamwork and also an excellent form of exercise.

Crawford in Training for Footloose

Gossip Girl star Chase Crawford has already started training for the upcoming remake of the 1984 classic dance flick "Footloose", where he plays the role of Ren McCormack, originally played by Kevin Bacon.
The shooting for the movie is planned to begin next March 2010 but Crawford has already hired a dance trainer to learn the right dance steps and wants to get as much training as he can within next 9 months before filming starts.

The Results!

The Pointed Toes team attended last night the annual McDonald's Ballet Scholarship at the Sydney Opera house.

It was a spectacular evening with great results and some amazing talent.

The outright winner who scored a total of $18,000 worth of prizes was Lachlan Monaghan from N.S.W and the Runner up who receives a total of $12,000 worth of prizes was female dancer Serena Green from N.S.W

The Open Jazz winners were:
  • 1st Place- Ev and Bow Fulltime Training Centre (Kirrawee)
  • 2nd Place- Marie Walton-Mahon Dance Academy (Lambton)
  • 3rd Place- Brent Street Studios B (Moore Park)

Pointed Toes would like to congratulate all the finalists and dancers for such a inspiring night and we are looking forward to next years event.
