Footloose 2010


Footloose (2010)

The remake of of the hit dance flick Footloose is set to be released next year.

High School Musical star Zac Efron was to take on Kevin Bacon's role as the wild, dancing rebel Ren McCormack but dropped out last month.
Since Efron's departure there are rumours that Gossip Girl heart throb Chase Crawford who also auditioned for the role may replace Efron and
take on the project.

We will have to wait and see if Crawford can "kick off his Sunday shoes".

Moonwalk with Jacko


Sydney Dancer and Choreographer Shannon Holtzapffel started dancing at an early age and has a wide range of experience within the dance world, but nothing could beat this amazing opportunity that he has been given to dance alongside Michael Jackson for his comeback tour.

Holtzapffel's own version of the "Moonwalk" won Jacko over and secured him a place in the Top 10 dancers that were selected from a 3 day Intensive Audition in Hollywood.

A full world tour , (including some Australian dates) is yet to be announced
.

Dance Flick




Dance Flick (2009)

Dance Flick is set to be released August 2009 and is a new comedy by the Wayan Brothers ("Scary movie, "White Chicks")

Dance Flick is satirical jab at musical/dance films (such as Step Up, Save the last Dance) and focuses' on a naive girl Megan White who forms a close bond with Street dancer Thomas Uncles.

Most of Marshall's works are self portraits with a mix of break dancing and contemporary movements in all different surroundings from an empty room to a backyard garage.

New studies have just come out of the UK that dancing starves off illness, and can even counteract the decline in ageing.

Not only does dancing improve your health and happiness, it keeps you young aswell.

So keep those dancing shoes on for as long as you can.

Class on Stage is a unique opportunity for the public to sit in on a class and observe how the Australian Ballet dancers train. The class is intense and the dancers work very hard to maintain their strength, stamina and fitness
The Pointed Toes team attended the Class On Stage in 2008 and was so inspired by the amazing talent.

Step Up 3D



Step Up 3D is the third installment of the hit dance franchise "Step Up" and will be filmed this year in New York.

There is a rumour going around that former Home and Away actress Sharni Vinson may have scored her big break in America and has been cast in the the latest Step Up movie.


Pointed Toes will keep you posted on any news on the up and coming movie Step Up 3D that is directed by Jon M Chu.

Make It Happen


Make It Happen (2008) is directed by Darren Grant and is about a young Girl Lauryn (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) who dreams of entering The Chicago School of Music and Dance . After a series of rejections she finds herself working in a Burlesque Club where she experiences conflict and finds self-discovery.

The Burlesque costumes are amazing and the finale is a great ending to the movie with a combination routine of Ballet mixed with Hip-Hop.

Make it Happen was only released last year and isn't very well known, but it is a perfect movie to add to the collection of Dance flicks.

The final Four


The Final 4 for "So You Think You Can Dance" Australia Season 2 are Amy, Ben, Charlie and Talia.

The Top 4 are now fighting for the $200,000 prize money and the title of "Australia's Favourite Dancer" which will be decided at the Grand Finale on April 26.

SYTYCD Tour 2009



"So You Think You Can Dance" Australian Live tour 2009
Starts July 2nd, 2009
The live tour features all of the Top 10 dancers from Season 2. The dancers will be performing their favourite routines from across the TV series plus some brand new choreographed numbers in an action-packed live event.
Tickets go on sale from Monday 6th April.

Boogie Town



Boogie Town is a modern version of West Side Story for the hip hop generation.
The movie is set in New York in 2015 with illegal dance contests that take place in the underground world of ‘Boogie Town’. Marco and Jay are leaders of rival dancing gangs, they acquire superpowers and take the contests to a whole new level. Marco also falls in love with Jay’s sister Natalie and the two become like modern day Romeo and Juliet who have a forbidden love affair.

Boogie Town is directed and written by Chris Stokes (Director of "You Got Served") and choreography is by Shane Sparks (Choreographer for "SYTYCD USA" and judge of "MTV's

The movie is set to be released in the USA in June this year, so lets hope it hits Cinemas in Australia not long after.
